Lightspeed/MySurvey.com Merger

by LapisLee on February 27, 2011

in General

I, for one, could not be more pleased with the merger between Lightspeed and MySurvey.com. I had earned only $160 from the time I joined Lightspeed on April 4, 2008 until the merger on January 24, 2011. My combined total from Lightspeed plus MySurvey.com right now is $445 and I have received tons of product tests from MySurvey and never had one problem with surveys being credited or incentives arriving in a timely fashion.

Another great thing about MySurvey.com is that their site is way better organized and it’s very easy to see how many surveys you have attempted and completed each month by selecting ‘My Rewards’ and using the drop down menu to display every survey attempted or completed each month. They even credit you with five points (about 4 cents) for every survey attempted.

  • 10 Points for joining the MySurvey.com panel
  • Up to 1500 Points for taking a survey (depending on length and content)
  • 150 Points for referring an eligible member to the panel
  • 1,100 MySurvey.com Reward Points have a cash value of $10. Member accounts below 1,000 Points have no cash value.

Just to show you how many more surveys I am receiving after the merger compared with before the merger, here are two recent months, one before and one after:

Lightspeed Panel joining forces with MySurvey

New MySurvey Logo

by admin on January 20, 2011

in General

Well the writing has been on wall since Mysurvey.com was acquired by LightSpeed research in early 2010, but now it is official. The Lightspeed Survey Panel will be merging with the Mysurvey.com panel, and both will be run under the MySurvey.com label. According to their latest newsletter, beginning January 24, 2011 your LightSpeed panel membership will be transferred to the MySurvey.com research panel. Starting January 22, 2011 both panels will be offline and will return on January 24, 2011 as a unified panel. You will then be able to login to the MySurvey.com panel with your LightSpeed credentials.

Here are some key points from the merger:

  • All of your points earned from LightSpeed will be transferred to your MySurvey.com membership.
  • If you already a member of LightSpeed and Mysurvey.com your accounts will be combined.
  • All survey invitations will be sent from carol@mysurvey.com, so be sure to add that address to your approved email contacts list.

In addition to the new logo shown here, they will add some new features including the ability to search the entire FAQ library and selecting the colors you want to see on the website. So stay tuned, and provide your feedback on the new combined panel once it comes online on January 24, 2011!

Lightspeed was my first paying panel when I started in the world of online surveys, and I have steadily made money with them ever since.  Here are a few tips and suggestions to make your experience with Lightspeed enjoyable.

  • Tip #1 – Be patient…because yes, sometimes you will screen out 10+ minutes into a survey.

One of the most common complaints many have about this panel is screening out after you’re 1/3rd or more into a survey.  This can be really frustrating, but I find the rate of this happening is still much lower than my rate for completions, so I’m still taking ‘the risk’ knowing I may occasionally waste a few minutes each month and disqualify.

  • Tip #2 – Have a good internet connection and enough time.

Lightspeed is one of the survey panels that usually won’t restart surveys if you loose your connection or time-out on a page.  Since my home wireless network can be a little unreliable, I try to wait until I’m at work or elsewhere to attempt most surveys with them.  I also make sure I can allot the full time to a survey in one sitting – other panels I can usually get up and walk away from if I need to, but I’ve had several instances of timing-out with this one if I sit on one page too long.

  • Tip #3 – Speaking of technical difficulties…

The “Contact Lauren” link on the survey pages is completely bogus -  I don’t think anyone has had any luck using that email for problems.  However, Lee has pointed out that dropping a line to costumer service at Perks.com (the company that manages Lightspeed’s payments) has been more productive for other users, so that’s something to consider if you do run into any technical issues.

  • Tip #4 – Check the website.

I’ve noticed recently that Lightspeed is not always emailing me about all available surveys.  I’ll log in to take one and find two or three waiting!  So it might be worth your while to add Lightspeed to the same bookmark folder that you keep daily panels like Surveyhead and MyView in, and check it once a day for bonus chances to earn some cash.

  • Tip #5 – And the usual:  fill out your screeners!

Lightspeed is a bit different from other panels in that they frequently rotates in new screeners and polls to their site, rather than just hosting a standard set of profiles.  Be sure to go in and fill out any new questionnaires that mention future “matching“ to surveys.  I have noticed a direct correlation between how often I answer the “sweepstakes-only” prescreeners and how many more surveys I receive, so it’s definitely not a waste of time.
